Children’s love of sweets leads to alcoholism

The European community of scientists has come to this conclusion as a result of a long-term project. It may seem strange: what is the connection? The observation zone included groups of children and adolescents aged from 7 to 17 years old, the total number of the studied was 16 thousand. Children live in European states. The researchers studied their eating habits by interviewing parents and direct observation.

Research has confirmed this hypothesis: there is a direct link between cravings for sweets and fats in childhood and cravings for alcohol in the future. This hypothesis was previously confirmed in animals. Lovers of sweets have a predisposition not only for alcoholism, but also for drug addiction.

Children who have alcoholics among their relatives are more at risk, and the risk is directly proportional to the degree of relationship: those who have alcoholic parents are most susceptible to the disease.

Two groups of temperaments that parents should be careful with are depressive and hyperactive. Observing their child’s addiction to one or the other, parents should limit their addiction to sweets. The effects of sweets on the brain should not be underestimated: they trigger the release of the hormone of happiness, just like drugs and alcohol do.
